Meet The Staff

Travis Hickman

Beginning in the radio business, in 1982, Travis, knew what it was like to start from the ground up. Being raised in a country-based home, music was always around. Since being raised in a remote country area, early morning rising was quite common, and the portable radio in the kitchen was always tuned in to WSM in Nashville, TN. He knew more words to the songs sung by the old country favorites like Bill Monroe, Charlie Louvin, Roy Acuff, Patsy Cline, Flatt and Scruggs and Hank Snow, than most adults during the same time era. Going into radio was like second nature for him from playing the latest hits, to old-timey country even the latest rock and roll. From working on WEPG beginning the early hours every morning with the Swap and Shop show, selling advertisement on the side and moving on up into the world of behind the stage jobs, Travis has done it all. His earliest claim to fame was the day he met Bill Monroe backstage at the Grand Ole Opry in October 1994. Never missing a beat, his stardom in music was born. Over the years, Travis, has met with many artists in a wide variety of music, from the Grand Ole Opry to Riverbend, even to the well known, Alabama June Jam, none escaped his attendance. In his accolades he has to his credit featured artists such as Loretta Lynn, Charlie Daniels, Brooks and Dunn, Taylor Swift, Randy Travis, Dolly Parton,Vince Gill, Trace Adkins, George Strait, Toby Keith and many, many more!

Keith is the Programming/Promotions  Director for WSDQ Radio.

grew up in the hills of East Tennessee listening to all the old country favorites. At a young age I understood that country music was a way of life. I have memories of The Kendalls, Patsy Kline, and Loretta Lynn. I remember singing along with the great voices of Dolly Parton and George Jones. The classic country music that I was raised on cannot not compare of any other era. My music taste has changed throughout the years. I started with Disco and Rock n Roll of the 70’s. Then the “hairbands” and the pop generation of the late 80’s and 90’s. In the diversity of music, I never forgot the real roots of the Country sound I grew up with. I was hired as an overnight DJ for a local Top 40 radio station in the early 90’s. The live remotes and crazy stunts started my radio career. Then around 1994, I followed my gut feeling and started working for a Mobile DJ company. Eventually, I started my own Mobile Entertainment company performing at hundreds of weddings and parties all over the southeast. Entertaining has always been and still remains a big part of my life. Now, I am back where my music career started, in the studio for both radio and TV. I am learning the ins and outs of the radio industry, from sales to the promotions and production. All the while, getting the chance to play and listen to country music and loving it!
